The British Bureau for the Arcane was created in 1666, by King Charles II.

It's brief was to keep the public safe while maintaining complete secrecy about the existence of "mythological" beings. It required "redefining" numerous events in history, reporting them differently to what actually happened. These stories won't appear in history books.​
